Thank you for your interest in the athletics ministry of Healing Place Church. Healing Place Athletics, a ministry of Healing Place Church, began in 2001 as an outreach to the local community of Baton Rouge and surrounding areas. It houses youth baseball, softball, flag football, and soccer. It also holds coed sporting events for adults. Every aspect of our program is designed to point people in the direction of Jesus.
You can EXPECT, FROM US, that we will be timely in our communication and do our very best to provide a positive and encouraging atmosphere for you.
Our primary role as staff and leaders of HP Athletics is to protect the atmosphere and environment of the leagues and to make sure we are fulfilling the mission of HP Athletics.
Mission Statement: To create an environment for children to know and experience Jesus, along with growing in their knowledge and skill of any given sport.
How will we accomplish that? One simple idea with 2 components:
Spiritual Development & Skill Development
Spiritual Development: Colossians 1:10 NLT – Teach players how we are to live a life pleasing God.
Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.
· Practice and Game Devotions
· Teach discipline
· Coach and leader influence
Skill Development: Colossians 3:23 NIV – Teach players to be work hard to be their best, because that is what God asks of us.
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men
· Practice time / fundamentals
· In game teaching
· Homework – lessons from practice/games for them to take home.
We currently offer the following sports programs: Youth: baseball, softball, t-ball, flag football, and soccer leagues Adults: softball, basketball, kickball, and volleyball tournaments held periodically
Our Adult Sporting Events offer the opportunity for individuals to connect with one another in a non-threatening environment. There are some people who may never want to come to church, but will play a day of softball or spend an evening shooting hoops with friends. These individuals are met on their terms in an environment that they can relate to. In turn, friendships are forged and we’ve seen lives changed, due to the athletic opportunities presented here at Healing Place Church.
The Healing Place Athletic Complex was designed with families in mind. Our goal was to create a first-class athletic facility where children and adults could come to play sports in a safe environment. Completing this complex means that we are able to extend out beyond the walls of the church and reach out to the Baton Rouge community and surrounding areas in a greater way, fulfilling our mission to be a healing place for a hurting world.
All of our sports programs are open to any child or adult who may want to participate. The HPAC consists of 6 baseball/softball fields. All 6 fields are multi-functional and are used for all sorts of events. The complex is equipped with an indoor concession stand, restrooms, and press box. It also includes a state of the art playground and lit basketball court.
